$18 Million Order from Sinovel Wind for 3 MW Wind Turbine Core Electrical Components - 04/02/08

American Superconductor Corporation (NASDAQ: AMSC), a leading energy technologies company, today announced that it has received an order worth more than $18 million for wind turbine electrical systems and core electrical components from Beijing-based Sinovel Wind Corporation Limited. Under the terms of the contract, AMSC will deliver these products to Sinovel over the next 15 months. The systems and components will be deployed in 3 megawatt (MW) wind turbines that have been developed under a contract initiated with AMSC Windtec, a wholly owned subsidiary of AMSC, approximately one year ago.

Windtec subsidiary of AMSC receives third multi-million dollar contract from a Chinese company. Under the terms of the contract, Windtec will develop a portfolio of 2.5 megawatt (MW) wind energy systems for Dongfang Steam Turbine Works Corporation (DTC) of China. In addition to development work, Windtec will provide project management during assembly and installation of the first prototype.

WINDTEC SUBSIDIARY OF AMSC RECEIVES $8 MILLION ORDER FROM SINOVEL FOR WIND ENERGY SYSTEMS - 03/21/07

Wholly owned subsidiary Windtec has received a follow-on order for 150 additional wind energy electrical systems from Beijing-based Sinovel Wind Corporation Limited. The order, worth more than $8 million, is for the 1.5 megawatt (MW) wind energy systems Sinovel is manufacturing and selling in China. AMSC expects to ship all 150 electrical systems in its fiscal year ending March 2008.
